From 23 to 25 August the celebrations in honor of the patron saint San Vincenzo Martire in Grottolella. Three days dedicated to prayer and devotion with an extensive religious program. In order to cheer up the citizens of Grottolella, on August 23rd from 8.00 pm, an aperitif "to be together" will be held.

On August 24th the concert of the cover band "Aironi Neri", a tribute to the Nomadi.

On August 25th the performance of the "Sonoria Live" group followed by the unmissable fireworks show.

All accompanied by food and wine stands to taste typical Irpinian products.

The village of Montefusco reopens its doors for the traditional Fair and Festival of Sant'Egidio scheduled from 28 to 30 August. The event is organized by the local Pro Loco and ASD Calcio, in collaboration with the Municipal Administration. Three days dedicated to tradition, good food, popular music, display of agricultural products and fine Irpinian craftsmanship.

The historic Fair which dates back to 1416 has always been held a few steps from the Capuchin Convent dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie and known to all as the Convent of Sant'Egidio. The display of agricultural products, precious Irpinian craftsmanship, will be accompanied by good food.

The Convent of Sant'Egidio has survived the centuries, between one re-foundation and another, welcoming people from every corner of the Principality from year to year, from 24 August to 1 September, offering a smile and a warm and substantial meal. We do not know the exact year in which that chef monk created that new dish based on bacon and peppers, but we do know that the approval of the hungry customers was great, to the point that from that day on Franciscan bread, or bread dipped in that unprecedented combination of flavours, became the symbolic dish of the Great Fair.

The recipe passed from monk to monk, from generation to generation, evolving. In the beginning it was a sort of soup in which bread was dipped, then it became something else, until the bacon became shoulder, the tomato married the just browned onions, the peppers disappeared into the sauce, the bread was replaced with fusilli, prepared by the devoted hands of the women of the village. “Where the flag is there the Fair,” the story goes. "Without doing you any injustice, we could say, respecting tradition, that history is the daughter and mother, "where the fair there is the Franciscan fusilli". And precisely the "Franciscan Fusilli" as per tradition will be the main dish of the festival.

The explosion of colors that the Carnival manages to offer enters the scene in Savignano Irpino with "Il Carnevale Savignanese", now in its 13th edition. Tradition, thus, is renewed in the town of Valle del Cervaro. The protagonists will be the allegorical floats and masks of various types, all created with the skilful work of local people. Popular dances, music (the "Boomerang Orkestra" will cheer up the day) and tasting of typical products, another attraction will be the breaking of the piñatas. The initiative will live from a healthy spirit of competition, in fact there will be awards for individual creations and groups. The appointment is scheduled for Sunday February 18th with the party starting from 3.00 pm. Originally it should have been held on Saturday 10 February but it was postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

The Carifano Carnival is ready to show off all its colors and joy, the Parade of Allegorical Floats and the Masked Groups will liven up the center of the Barony. The Municipal Administration of Cervinara, in synergy with the Pro Loco "A. Renna", the Pastoral Unit and the Borgo Ferrari, organizes the traditional "Bonfire of Sant'Antonio Abate".

Ancient rite and now consolidated tradition deeply felt by the entire community which celebrates the beloved Saint, blessed of fire and protector of livestock and fields, with a great party around the bonfire in the name of conviviality and joy.

We start at 6.00 pm with the celebration of the Holy Mass at the Abbey of San Gennaro - Ferrari. Subsequently, the blessing of the animals will be held followed by the lighting of the Big Bonfire in the center of the Square.

To cheer up the evening, in Piazza Regina Elena, music, songs and popular dances with the folk group "Li.Ta.mmurria-Tarante".

Furthermore, there will be no shortage of tastings of typical Cervinarese traditional dishes, accompanied by good local wine.

One of the most widespread customs in traditional sheep farming is the "Transumanza", an ancient pastoral practice of seasonal migration of livestock along the "tratturi" and towards better climatic conditions.
But transumanza is not just an agricultural practice, it is a journey back in time, an ancient ritual handed down from father to son in a millenary tradition that unites people with places and animals.
An ancient art that has been recognized as an "Intangible Heritage of Humanity" for its great historical and anthropological value.

And it is in respect of this ancient practice that the Coldiretti of Avellino, in synergy with the Municipality of Senerchia, has organized, on Sunday 16 July, the traditional event that will revive the show of Transumanza.
An extraordinary moment of aggregation and sharing, in the pristine greenery of Irpinia.
We will start from the hills of Teora until we reach the peaks of Senerchia, where there will be a first stop for the ancient rite of the "scampanamento", the changing of the bells, and then up, towards the second stop in Madonna delle Teglie, where the Coldiretti will give life to a sumptuous banquet to taste the extraordinary typical local products.

Community, aggregation and tradition, these are the elements that will make the day unique, in an atmosphere of great celebration and conviviality.

The traditional lighting of the bonfire, accompanied by music and dancing, takes place on 17 January, in the Church of the Ascension in the Balsami district after the celebration of Holy Mass in honour of Saint Anthony, which is followed by the blessing of animals and bonfires.
There, you can taste typical local food made according to ancient recipes handed down from generation to generation, accompanied by an excellent Irpinian wine.

A BIT OF HISTORY
Some testimonies tell that since ancient times, on the night of 17 January, the day when Saint Anthony is celebrated, the rural folk have lit up the region with thousands of small bonfires, which had a different meaning depending on the area. In the Irpinia region, this tradition is deeply rooted and in particular in Solofra the tradition has been handed down for centuries.
If we go further back in time, beyond the reaches of memory, we see singing and dancing around the Carcare area - the first fun, frolics, and tomfoolery of Carnival.
A local proverb even refers to the masks and sounds of Saint Anthony and it was, in fact, at this time of the year that Carnival parades began, continuing Sunday after Sunday until the final paroxysm of Shrove Tuesday.
Saint Anthony and Carnival were closely united in a single desire to enliven the dullness of everyday life at a time when entertainment was scarce.
