The Church of Santa Maria Assunta (Saint Mary of the Assumption) in Villanova del Battista is located on Corso Vittorio Emanuele III, in the historic centre of the Irpinian town.
Entirely rebuilt after the violent earthquakes of 1930 and 1980, the structure of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta is rather impressive and cannot be missed by anyone passing along the street where it stands. The single-nave interior houses two paintings, "The Fall of Jesus" and "The Deposition", both dating back to the 17th century and attributable to the school of Luca Giordano.
A religious symbol of the Villanova community, the Church of Santa Maria Assunta is a beautiful testament to rebirth and faith.
