The plot

The protagonist, Mario, is a London taxi driver who leads a double life: he is married to Maria in Piazza Irnerio and to Barbara in Piazza Risorgimento. Thanks to meticulous organization and strict adherence to schedules, he manages to keep his bigamy a secret.

Everything goes smoothly until, due to an unexpected event - a blow to the head during an attempted robbery - Mario ends up in hospital, giving rise to a series of misunderstandings. His complaint to the authorities reveals two residential addresses, thus attracting the attention of two different police commissioners, who begin to investigate his strange situation.

In a desperate attempt to hide the truth, Mario gets help from his friend Walter, an awkward neighbor who, in trying to cover up his lies, ends up further complicating the situation. Between misunderstandings, misinterpretations and a whirlwind of twists, the story develops in a crescendo of comedy until a hilarious ending.
