On November 22nd, the Casa della Cultura in Aquilonia will host the theatrical show “Il mio brillante divorce” by Francesca Bianco. A brilliant comedy that talks about how to survive a divorce with irony and how you can reinvent your life, as a single at fifty. Angela has a husband, Max, nicknamed Palla da Biliardo, who left her for his twenty-five year old Argentine lover Rosa.
As if that were not enough, her daughter, who went to live with her boyfriend, revealed to her that she was the only one who did not know about her husband’s escapades, which had been going on for quite some time. Left alone, with the only company of her dog Jack, Angela must learn to deal with her new condition of “involuntary single”.
Alternating between anger towards her cheating husband, moments of joy for her newfound freedom, hope for a possible reconciliation and reluctance to sign the divorce papers, Angela makes us laugh and cry as she tells us about her adventures in rebuilding her life; from the telephone helpline for people with suicidal thoughts to a visit to a sex shop to buy a vibrator.
This show starts from a simple and frequent plot in the lives of many, but it lightly delves into the themes of loneliness, of how a parent must deal with separation from their grown-up children and of how a woman who has always seen herself as a wife and mother suddenly has to rebuild her own personal dimension, free from these traditional roles.
A female story that tells us a lot about how society sees single women, surrounded by voices and characters present in Angela's life, partly played by Angela herself and partly present in the videos with which Angela herself dialogues.
