The Ariano Folkfestival is a music festival that takes place every year in August in Ariano Irpino and hosts major exponents of world, folk and gypsy music from all over the world.
Started in 1996 as a classic folk festival and organised by the Red Sox Association, this ethnocultural project has, over the years, acquired the traits of a truly international festival. In more than twenty years, the Ariano Folkfestival has managed to host famous "cult" groups, such as Gogol Bordello, or much-loved artists, such as Goran Bregovic and Vinicio Capossela.
Over time, the project has been enriched with many side events, including the winter version of the festival. The first edition of the Ariano Folkfestival Winter was held in 2017 and, since then, it has been organised every year in December. The musical performances are also accompanied by a variety of activities such as theatre performances, cine-zones, travel stories, yoga areas, children's areas and much more, transforming Ariano Irpino into a meeting place for different peoples and cultures and enhancing its traditional hospitality.
For over twenty years, the Ariano Folkfestival has been the reference point in Europe and the Mediterranean for events dedicated to these musical genres.
