The 2D & 3D Animation Film Festival, an international festival dedicated to the world of animation, returns for its 5th edition. Founded by director Giuseppe Rossi and organized by Rotary and Rotaract Club Sant’Angelo dei Lombardi Hirpinia Goleto together with the Municipality of Lioni, the event will be held on Friday, March 28 at 8:00 pm at the Multisala Cinema Nuovo, with free admission.
Over the years, the festival has hosted hundreds of short films from 79 nations, including works created by the most prestigious animation schools in the world, such as Gobelins, CalArts, Esma, Ringling College and Italian institutes such as BigRock, IED, Accademia delle Belle Arti di Napoli and the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. The works presented also include shorts screened at the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival, as well as five Oscar-nominated shorts, including the famous Oktapodi and Garden Party.
This year, the official selection includes 53 short films, but only the finalists will be screened during the event.
Competition categories include:
2D & 3D Animation (hybrid animation)
2D Animation (traditional animation)
3D Animation (computer animation)
In addition to the screenings, the evening will offer insights into animation techniques and a focus on social and environmental issues, with short films dedicated to topics such as pollution, deforestation, adoption, disposophobia and ALS.
Some of the directors of the shorts will be present in the room.
At the end of the event, the best shorts in the various categories will be awarded, with various recognitions including best direction and screenplay.
In addition, the public will be able to vote for their favorite film to assign the Audience Award.
