La Giudeca is the historic centre of Bagnoli Irpino, located behind the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta.
The medieval village, built around the old Lombard castle from the 7th century, of which some ruins remain, is the oldest part of the town. The first settlement of settlers of Jewish origin, hence the name, was located here. The old town centre is characterised by Spanish-style architectural elements, narrow alleys and houses that spill out onto the streets, from which you can see urban scenes and landscapes.
Nowadays, the Jewish quarter remains the symbol of a strong and deep-rooted community that was able to merge with the local population, creating centuries-old harmony.
