Gallicchio Palace is a place of historical interest, located in the Municipality of Vallata, in Via Papa Giovanni XXIII.
The building dates back to the 13th century and is characterised by a Renaissance style. The round-arched wooden door, featuring inlays, leads to a staircase with a statue of Saint Anna on the side, placed on the head of a Madonnina (Virgin Mary) to protect the noble residence.
Inside the Palace, visitors can admire a number of frescoes by the painter Schettino, including one depicting a woman dressed in old-fashioned clothes dipping her foot into a small lake: what strikes the visitor most, when observing this work, is the technique used by the artist, especially in reproducing the dark colour of the woman's eyes, in such a way as to create a depth in her gaze and, at the same time, the illusion that the figure represented is also able to peer into anything in the room where the fresco is located. Gallicchio Palace also has cellars (with old wine barrels), a hat room, reading room, kitchen, bedrooms and a room used as a medical office.
A building of great importance and immeasurable beauty, Gallicchio Palace is one of the distinctive architectural elements of Vallata's historic centre.
