The Scampanellata (bell ringing) in the town, in honour of Saint Anthony the Abbot, is an event that animates the streets of Calabritto on the feast day of the saint, 17 January.
Every year, on the occasion of the feast of Saint Anthony the Abbot, tradition dictates that people go through the streets of the town to ring the bells. The participants in the parade knock on the doors of the houses to ask for a gift, usually a sweet or fruit, and continue their parade until the tour of the town is completed.
The event is divided into two parts: a religious one, with a mass held in the Mother Church of the Holy Trinity, and a civil one, which consists of setting off from the Church, armed with cowbells, and then continuing through the streets of the town.
Repeated annually, the Scampanellata through the town is a tradition in Calabritto that has been handed down for generations.
