The Castle of Chianche is a place of historical interest located in Piazza Francesco Tedesco.
The building dates back to the Norman era and is mentioned for the first time in a document from 1301. Compared to its original structure, the fortress still preserves the walls, the two angular cylindrical towers and a keep, a tall quadrangular tower in neo-Gothic style, which is also called "Torrione" and is located on the top of the Balba Strait, a passageway to Sannio. A stone plaque in the Castle also recalls that writers such as Torquato Tasso (1544-1595), Giambattista Marino (1569-1625) and John Milton (1608-1674) were guests there.
The Castle of Chianche still stands as a symbol of the local community and represents the most valuable place in the medieval village.
