Rituals of Fire is a traditional and folkloric event that takes place in Lioni every year in December.
Promoted by the Pro Loco and the Municipality of Lioni since 2018, the event takes place over two days, on 7 and 8 December, with the aim of bringing back into local culture an ancient practice: the tradition of bonfires of the Immaculate Conception.
During the event, large bonfires are lit in the town's historic centre, accompanied by various shows put on by jugglers, musicians and theatre actors. Of course, there are also food and wine stands with typical local products and wines, in the name of the uniqueness of the Irpinian territory.
An event that mixes legends and traditions, the Rituals of Fire retrace an ancient saying of Lioni that reads: "Chi tenìa lo pane murìo, chi tenìa lo fuoco campào" (those who had the bread died, those who had the fire lived).
