Friday 23 August at Palazzo Scola in Trevico the booking of the book "Politics and Thought, stories and characters of the twentieth century parties" by Andrea Covotta.
An essay that traces the history of Italian political thought from the beginning of the twentieth century until 1978, an emblematic year with the tragic death of Moro, the election of Pertini at the Quirinale and the particularity of the three "Popes": Paul VI, John Paul I and John Paul II. The book is a sort of journey into Italian political cultures (Catholic, communist, socialist and right-wing) through a portrait of its main protagonists. There is also an in-depth analysis of the party newspapers: «Il Popolo» for the Christian Democracy, «l’Unità» for the Communist Party, «Avanti!» for the Socialist Party and on the history of their headquarters. The narrative of a politics different from the current one, more inclusive, with "weavers" capable of recomposing the many scattered fragments of society. Catholics, communists, socialists and lay people who, after having fought in the Resistance, together wrote the Constitution. Thus was born that lofty idea of politics as a resolution of problems and mediation between different interests.
