The Civic Museum of Villa Amendola is located in Avellino, in Via dei Due Principati, along the road that connects the historic centre of the Irpinian provincial capital to the districts of Rione Mazzini and San Tommaso (Saint Thomas).
This marvellous structure, dating back to the 18th century and equipped with a large botanical garden, embraces three centuries of history, handing down to us the precious testimony of an ancient private residence, trace and memory of the villas built during the Caracciolo government. The events of Villa Amendola unfold against the backdrop of Avellino's historical context, interweaving the lives of the Pelosi, Orto, Farina and Amendola families who, for many years, shaped its surroundings.
Today the Civic Museum of Villa Amendola contains the memories of the succession of private and public moments, family stories that blend with the cultural and social history of Avellino, in a unique and evocative journey. The building also houses the "Nunzia Festa" Municipal Library, a public reading room equipped with internet stations and a collection of around 5,000 titles.
An important cultural centre in the city, enhanced by the biodiversity of its park, Villa Amendola is a place where history and nature mingle to create a perfect symbiosis.
