The Chapel of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Sorbo Serpico is located on Via Umberto I, near the Brancaccio Palace.
Its construction dates back to the 18th century and is linked to that of the adjacent stately building, as both were built at the behest of Don Nicola Maria Brancaccio, Prince of Ruffano. A recent restoration has given it the well-kept appearance it presents today on the square in front.
Owned by the Municipality, today the Chapel has a simple façade, decorated with delicate stuccoes. The remarkable stone doorway stands out as the sole embellishment, along with the rose window above it. The front façade is completed by a small bell tower with two bells. The interior of the Church, on the other hand, is characterised by its structure with a single nave and rectangular layout. Worthy of mention among the sacred furnishings kept inside are three magnificent marble altars, which contribute to enriching the artistic value of the place of worship.
With its austere and minimalist style, the Chapel of Our Lady of the Annunciation, along with the adjoining Baronial Palace, forms an architectural and artistic complex of great importance for the Sorbo community.
