Santuario di Santa Maria delle Grazie

The Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie is located in Castelvetere sul Calore, in Piazza Municipio, near the Carnival Museum.

Built on a structure of older origin (probably dating back to the 15th century), the religious building, proclaimed Diocesan Sanctuary on 2 July 1992, underwent considerable restoration during the 17th century. This is also testified by the engraving on the stone plaque on the entrance portal, in Latin and dated 1614.  Later enlarged and embellished, its interior houses a precious 15th-century triptych of the Madonna and Child accompanied by Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Evangelist, the latest restoration of which was carried out in 2018, when several original elements of the construction were brought to light.

The diocesan sanctuary dedicated to Holy Mary of the Graces, patron saint of the village, is one of the most visited places in Castelvetere sul Calore, especially on the occasion of the Feast of the Madonna delle Grazie, held on 28 April.
