Villa Bianchi is a place of historical interest situated in Lioni. The entrance faces onto Via Oreste e Mario De Maio.
With its unmistakeable Liberty style, it is highly probable that the construction dates back to the late 17th century. As the years have passed, Villa Bianchi has been restored several times. But inside there are still some original furnishings, including certain items that once belonged to the Bianchi family, including a “home altar”, which is a large wooden wardrobe containing a richly-decorated altar to celebrate mass. The documents still kept in these rooms include a pardon issued by Pope Benedict XV, who in 1915 granted Don Rocco Bianchi permission to celebrate Holy Mass in his home in Lioni.
Of the many attractions of Villa Bianchi, perhaps the most striking is the atmospheric cellar dug into the tuff stone, and most of all the parkland around the villa, which is listed as one of Italy’s historic gardens.
