The greatest contemporary Italian violist will be the main protagonist at Ariano Irpino, Thursday 18 January, at 6.00 pm, in the Aula Magna "E.F.M. Emanuele", of the first annual concert of the Biogem Musica review, conceived and directed by Nazzareno Carusi and entitled to memory of the writer and music historian Paolo Isotta. The Forlivese Danilo Rossi, first violist of the 'Teatro alla Scala' in Milan for 36 years, with the record of the youngest instrumentalist ever to have held this role, will be accompanied by the pianist Stefano Bezziccheri, his musical partner of over thirty years.
Defined as ''a giant'' by Zubin Mehta and unanimously considered a star of the first magnitude in the international music scene, Danilo Rossi, in addition to his long Milanese season, which ended due to retirement in 2022, has an extraordinary solo concert career to his credit. Alongside performances in almost all the temples of international classical music, the violist from Forlì has also added numerous theatrical collaborations with famous actors and writers, often creating a cultured contamination with jazz and other contemporary musical expressions, in an attempt, according to the great some of the critics succeeded, to experience the music in its completeness, without any barriers. And the concert scheduled at Biogem on January 18th can rightfully belong to this line of his concert activity, which will oscillate between the 'romantic' 'Sonata n. 2 op. 120 in E flat major' by Johannes Brahms and the 'classical' 'Notturno' by Nino Rota. An 'impressionistic' Maurice Ravel will follow ('Pavane pour une enfant defunte'), and then close with the contemporary sounds of Astor Piazzolla's 'Grand Tango'.
Danilo Rossi is also the author of popular teaching manuals and teaches at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in Lugano. A successful writer, 'Viola d'amore', an eagerly awaited autobiographical volume, will be released on January 26th.
