The Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie (Holy Mary of Graces) stands in Piazza Municipio, close to the municipal building of Quindici.
The Church was built in late Baroque style during the 15th century. In 1979, it was completely destroyed by fire, but was later restored thanks to much work by the local community, testifying to the devotion of the entire population.
Today, the interior of the Church is decorated with various paintings of the Neapolitan school. On the ceiling is a painting by Giovanni Cosenza depicting the “Triumph of the Virgin”, and there are other works by Giacinto Diana (1731-1803). Noteworthy features include the wooden pulpit by the sculptor Geronimo Ferraro from Taurano, and the 16th-century reliquary. The magnificent painting that covers the entire nave depicts Our Lady of Graces surrounded by Saint Joseph, Saint John the Evangelist, Saint Philip Neri and Saint Sebastian, who was adopted as the patron saint of all the lands of the Lancellotti family from the time they settled in the Lauro Valley.
A symbol of rebirth, the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie is not just a sacred place of worship; it is also home to important historic and archaeological finds which have been preserved in the Museum of Sacred Art.
