The Church of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli (Our Lady of Constantinople) in Calabritto is located in Via Costantinopoli, near the Town Hall.
Severely damaged by the earthquake of 23 November 1980 and then almost radically rebuilt, the Church has ancient origins. It has a simple structure, with the main altar in stone, crowned by an 18th-century tabernacle, which is still a tangible sign of an initial restoration carried out in the 18th century.
All the other altars in the Church of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli are made of stone: on the second altar, on the left, the icon of the Black Madonna is venerated, which, according to local tradition, was brought from the East by Basilian monks around 1200. This theory seems to be confirmed by the fact that the Church is mentioned among the "oratoria extra moenia", in a document of the Archbishop's Curia of Conza of 1829, and ascribed, therefore, to the catalogue of religious buildings of Byzantine origin.
