The Civita di Ogliara Archaeological and Environmental Park is a place of interest located in Serino, in the hamlet of the same name.

Situated on a small plateau beside the river Sabato, the site was restored between 2006 and 2007, thanks to the signing of an agreement protocol between the Municipality of Serino and the then Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of the Provinces of Avellino, Salerno, and Benevento. According to some studies, this park dates back to the 18th century and, according to tradition, corresponds to the mythical Sabatia, city of the Hirpini, which was destroyed by the Romans because its population supported Hannibal during the second Punic war. Following this event, the population supposedly took refuge in the upper Sabato Valley, thus giving rise to the settlements of Serino and its fragmentation into 24 different hamlets.

Today, the Archaeological Park consists of a perimeter wall of Lombard origin, with a circumference of about 2 km. In addition to the walls, there are also towers and a gateway in the park, visible thanks to the restoration work carried out. In fact, using scattered original material it was possible to restore the towers and curtain walls up to a height of 5 meters, so as to give the site some of the original appearance of the fortification.

A symbol of the community of Ogliara, the archaeological park is a powerful and vivid testament to a past that hovers between history and legend.
