Montoro, inauguration of the Contemporary Art Gallery

The Pinacoteca d'Arte Contemporanea di Montoro opens on Friday 12 April at 5.30 pm, located in the hamlet of S. Bartolomeo di Montoro, in Via Maggiore Vincenzo Citro.

After a long restoration project, the Palace of Culture, which houses the Art Gallery, was handed over to the community by the Municipal Administration, thanks to the active support of the Mayor Girolamo Giaquinto and the Councilor for Culture and Sports Policies Raffaele Guariniello .

The evening, moderated by Milena Acconcia, will be attended by the Mayor of Montoro Girolamo Giaquinto, the President of the Province of Avellino Rizieri Buonopane, the Councilor for Culture Raffaele Guariniello, the artistic director of the Pinacoteca Eliana Petrizzi; the director of the 'Montorocontemporanea' exhibition Gerardo Fiore.

In order to best celebrate the inauguration of the Contemporary Art Gallery of the City of Montoro, the Municipal Administration has decided to highlight the event with the activation of a Temporary Philatelic Service operated by Poste Italiane, for the day of 12 April 2024. During this service, Poste Italiane operators will be able to affix the special stamp created for the occasion to regularly franked documents. The cultural association 'Contemporarily' APS, which currently manages the art gallery, therefore wanted to prepare special illustrated postcards, which will be made available free of charge on the day of the event, on which it will be possible to affix the special stamp.
The event will also be enriched by an artistic-themed philatelic exhibition, curated by Gino Moio - an expert in philately, stamp art and postal history - in which stamps reproducing works of art from various eras will be displayed.

The Art Gallery was created to offer the territory a precious opportunity for discussion and growth, through cultural proposals aimed at bringing into play the most interesting aspects of national and international contemporary art.
The Collection housed there - which can be visited in the two floors of exhibition rooms - is made up of the generous donations of the artists who exhibited at the "Montorocontemporanea" exhibition, works which the 'Contemporarily' Cultural Association subsequently intended to donate to the Administration and for public enjoyment. "Montorocontemporanea" is the event born in 2015 from an idea by Gerardo Fiore, current Director - with the precious organizational support of the 'Contemporarily' APS Cultural Association, founded in Montoro in 2018 - with the aim of promoting socio-cultural initiatives, such as the organization of exhibitions, courses, conferences, literary events, debates, seminars, theatrical activities and research, documentary activities, shows, initiatives dedicated to schools and young generations. The exhibition has seen not only an ever-increasing number of visitors grow over time, but also the keen interest of school groups, guided in organized tours and dedicated events during the entire duration of each event.
