The Archaeology Museum of Taurasi is housed inside the municipal building, close to the Church of the Holy Rosary.

The exhibition contains a number of archaeological finds, discovered during the various excavation works carried out in San Martino by the former Archaeological Superintendency for Salerno, Avellino and Benevento between 1993 and 1996. These finds are of great historical importance, as they confirm the presence of a community dating back to the eneolithic period (5000 - 3000 BC) and have yielded extensive evidence that can now be added to the other important discoveries previously made near Fontanalardo and Macchia dei Goti.

The Archaeological Museum of Taurasi also contains exhibits of ceramic objects and funeral urns found inside the huts: they indicate that the eneolithic people used to bury the dead inside, or close to their homes. The chronological order of the exhibits and the way the information is presented make this Museum unique: each display case houses the exact number of artefacts discovered in each hut. Visitors can really understand what it was like to live in these homes thanks to the information boards and plans indicating the location of the excavation works.

All these details, combined with the rarity and value of the artefacts, make the Archaeological Museum of Taurasi the flagship archaeological exhibition of Irpinia.
