The Mediaeval Village of Chianche, also known as the “Historic Centre”, is the oldest part of this municipality, and once stood in what is now Piazza Francesco Tedesco.
The Mediaeval Village extends around the Castle and has characteristic cobbled streets lined with low houses, often with rounded arches. Among the buildings in the mediaeval village is a compact structure that denotes the ancient origins of a town that once welcomed famous Italian and international writers.
The historic centre of Chianche, with its characteristic solemn setting, offers visitors the opportunity to imagine themselves back in medieval times.
