Imperiale-D'Afflitto Palace is a historical building located in Salza Irpina, in Via Celza.

Dating back to the end of the 17th century, it was built by the Berio nobles, marquises of Salza Irpina, while today's name of the Palace is due to a particular historical moment for the Irpinian village: at the beginning of the 19th century, in the absence of male heirs, Francesco Maria Berio, the last member of the family, married Maria Giulia Imperiale, daughter of Giulio, prince of Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi. Thanks to this marriage, the building passed into the hands of the Imperiale family, later becoming the property of the municipal administration, which restored it after the earthquake of 23 November 1980.

The Palace, consisting of four distinct levels, is characterised by the presence of an 18th century portal on the façade, decorated with two half-columns supporting the brackets of the central balcony on the main floor. From the hallway there is a staircase with ribbed vaults leading to the upper levels, as the two lower levels were used for storage or as cellars. The "noble floor" or "representative floor" is characterised by a number of rooms, some of which still have their original 18th-century frescoes and doors. On the top floor are the large rooms that constituted the "sleeping quarters", with rectangular windows with stone frames on the façade. On the last wall of the great stone staircase, you can still find a large embroidered cloth depicting the Imperial coat of arms, a black eagle with open wings.

Today, the Imperiale-d'Afflitto Palace presents itself in all its renewed majesty and bears witness to the cultural and artistic wealth of an era of splendour for the entire community of Salza Irpina.
