A novel that sheds light on a historical period (post-cholera, austerity and the referendum campaign on divorce) that is crucial for our society and which is exciting and causing discussion.

The funds raised with the novel are donated to the Buglione Center for the homeless.

The novel, set in '73-74 in Naples (post-cholera, austerity and debate on the limits of development, referendum campaign on divorce), tells the story of a priest and a group of young people who take the side of the neighborhood farmers from Pianura evicted to build illegal buildings, facing doubts, dilemmas, questioning their lives and society, making difficult choices.

The novel has received extremely positive reviews, including:
Repubblica (Naples): «At the beginning of the novel there is the corpse of a settler, he hanged himself in Masseria Grande [...] Thus begins, dramatically, Father Sergio's awareness, and the book is the story of this priest's commitment to organizing a defense of the threatened farmers, his attempt to make the parish of the Augustinian Friars a place of welcome and redemption, shaking his brothers and superiors from their torpor, bringing young people together, opening it up to the children of the shacks. [...] In Pio Russo Krauss's novel there are all these things, through everyday history, as Manzoni or Tolstoy would have told it. [...] The story takes you and never leaves you." (Antonio Di Gennaro on Repubblica dated 16/5/23).

Il Mattino (Naples): «A compelling novel with a strongly choral, or rather community-based, imprint, interwoven with close dialogues and dotted with existential questions. [...] Like the light of dawn is a novel that could be said to be necessary: intrinsically theological-philosophical, explicitly environmentalist and authentically Christian." (Donatella Trotta on Il Mattino of 16/5/23).

Pressenza: «It is not often that we come across a book which, despite presenting itself with the characteristics of a novel, manages not only to make us relive the troubled events of a period of great changes, but also to present us with a subtle psychological and sociological analysis characters who vividly embody its dilemmas, contradictions and conflicts." (Ermete Ferraro on Pressenza of 7/31/23).

Reportpistoia: «A novel that invites you to ask questions, to question yourself, but above all that captivates with its story and its style [...] The reader becomes fond of the characters, who, at the end of reading, remain in the soul and in the mind". (Alberto Vivarelli on Reportpistoia of 9/30/23).

Il Caffè Letterario di Scampia: «The novel becomes more and more compelling, page after page, until it picks up speed like a moving train and proceeds towards an initially unsuspected and unsuspected epilogue. It is a story made up of various levels and various focuses of interest that intertwine, overlap and feed each other. The key to this book is undoubtedly love. (Silvana Casertano on Il Caffè Letterario di Scampia 11/13/23)
