The Passion and Death of Christ is a religious, theatrical and folkloric event that takes place in Gesualdo during the Easter festivities.
The last, dramatic moments of Jesus' life are staged in the town through a theatrical journey from Pilate's Praetorium, located in the Cappellone, to the Castle, which represents Golgotha. The entire performance, scheduled for the evening of Good Friday, is marked by the heartbreaking melodies of Prince Carlo Gesualdo's madrigals and the rock guitars.
Through this route, the main stages of the Passion and Death of Christ are revisited and mixed with the contemporary and 16th-century music of the famous composer, whose name is strongly linked to his land and his castle.
