Presepe Vivente a Gesualdo

The Living Nativity Scene is an event that has taken place since 1991 in Gesualdo, during the Christmas festivities.

This religious event involves the entire community, from the youngest to the oldest, in a Christmas atmosphere filled with the fragrance of traditional foods, prepared by the peasant families of the past. On this occasion, the whole town becomes a unique setting for the staging of ancient trades in the dim and subdued light of torches, which simply and uniquely illuminate the squares, fountains and buildings surrounding the Castle.

Among the events that characterise the cultural heritage of Gesualdo, the Live Nativity Scene is renewed every year in an atmosphere of devotion and conviviality, accompanied by the rediscovery of arts and flavours.
