Tridd in Festa

Tridd in Festa is a food and wine event that takes place in Carife on 13 and 14 August every year.

Water, semolina flour and a pinch of salt: from the simplicity of an ancient recipe, an event involving the Carife community comes to life every year, attracting and fascinating visitors from neighbouring towns and gourmet tourists. The fresh pasta takes its name from the way it is made, that is, rolled out, from top to bottom, with three fingers, hence the dialectal form Tridd. The technique is simple, but at the same time, requires a certain manual skill that the women of the town are committed to handing down from generation to generation. 

This event offers a unique opportunity to learn the ancient method of making fresh pasta during the "Fresh Pasta Workshops". In the past, this first course was usually served with a meat sauce on special occasions of sharing, and this has now been renewed during the great feast held in Via Sant'Anna. Workshops, food stands and live music enliven the event organised by the association "Gli Amici r' lu Callar", which also proposes the old traditional Carife folk game of "Rottura delle Pignate", which involves hitting and breaking the "pignata" while wearing a blindfold, thus winning its contents.

The festive atmosphere and well-planned organisation have led, edition after edition, to the success of an eagerly awaited event for the entire local community.
