The Multimedia Museum of Transhumance (MUMUT) of Villanova del Battista is located in Piazza Michele Venuti.
Inaugurated in 2019, the exhibition houses a vast cultural and anthropological heritage, aimed at retracing the history of transhumance in Irpinia. The seasonal movement of livestock along the ancient"tratturi" (roads for herds and flocks) in the Mediterranean and the Alps is of great cultural importance for Italy, so much so that it is listed as an intangible heritage of humanity by UNESCO.
The staging of an exhibition entirely devoted to this tradition means that Villanova del Battista, thanks to the presence in its territory of the Regio Tratturo (old transhumance route) Pescasseroli-Candela, is included in a circuit of great cultural importance, testifying to the importance that the locals themselves recognise in it.
