The Castle of Cassano Irpino, also known as "Baronial Palace", is a place of historical interest, located near the Church of San Bartolomeo (Saint Bartholomew).
The fortress, which certainly existed at the time of the Normans, was most likely built by the Lombards. Transformed into an aristocratic residence at the time of the settlement of feudal lords in the territory, it then took the name of Baronial Palace.
The entire structure is built around a watchtower and around what remains of the Castle. The building is accessed by climbing up a ramp and passing under an archway, where it is assumed that there was once a real entrance door leading to a small courtyard. All that remains of the original structure are ruins, particularly visible in the upper part of the current structure, while the lower part contains rooms that have been completely renovated.
A place of great historical importance, the Castle of Cassano Irpino is the fulcrum from which the medieval village develops and gathers.
