The Church of San Nicola in Capriglia Irpina is a place of worship located in the square of the same name in the Irpinian town.
It was built in the 16th century on top of a pre-existing chapel dedicated to the local community's patron saint and dating back to the 10th century. Materials even dating back to Roman times were used for its construction and restoration two centuries later, including some funerary steles located both on the outer wall of the building and on the first level of the bell tower.
Inside the Church of San Nicola, there are two side aisles containing three altars each. The main altar in polychrome marble stands out, a sculptural work that lends lustre and preciousness to the religious building.
The Church of San Nicola is a religious symbol of the community of Capriglia and opens the celebrations in honour of the patron saint every year in December.
