The Church of Sant’Antonio (Saint Anthony) is a place of worship situated in the road named after it, in Capriglia Irpina.
A small, graceful place of worship dating from the 16th century, although it was restored several times during the 19th century. The peculiarity of this Church is its façade, which is painted in Pompeiian red and leads to the interior, characterised by a number of equally striking features.
The works of art kept in the Church of Sant’Antonio include the “Assumption”, an 18th-century painting placed on the right-hand side of the entrance. Inside, there is also an alcove in the high altar, which once contained a statue of Saint Anthony of Padua, as well as two more statues of Saints Faustina and Cajetan placed above each of the other side altars.
Much-cherished by the local community, the Church of Sant’Antonio has a characteristic and unmistakable style.
