Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Michele di Serino

The Paris Church of San Michele in Serino, also known as the "Church of San Michele Arcangelo" (Saint Michael the Archangel), is located on Via Cremona.

The religious building has its origins in the 17th century, when an old parish church was built on the spot where a chapel dedicated to the Archangel once stood, which had been built in the 7th century by the Lombards: it was a place where pilgrims stopped on their way to the Sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo in Gargano, which is why it was known as "ad Peregrinos". Razed to the ground by the earthquake of 23 November, 1980, the Church was rebuilt in its current location and inaugurated on 30 June 1993, thanks to public works funding and the commitment of the locals, who were able to recover all the precious furnishings from the rubble.

The new church was built in the Romantic-modern style and houses, in particular, the altar of Saint Michael, which had already been present in the pre-existing religious building. Also noteworthy are the numerous objects inside, donated to the parish by the San Michele community in order to make the artistic heritage kept in the town's main sacred place even richer and more varied.

A powerful testament to ancient and deep-rooted faith, today the Parish Church of San Michele in Serino stands in renewed splendour, made even more evident by the pride and affection of the local community.
