Cicerchiamo is a food and wine event held in Frigento during the summer.
Promoted by the Terra Mater social cooperative and Slow Food, the event aims to promote chickling vetch, a typical legume of local biodiversity and particularly rich in protein. The aim of the event is also to include this product in the context of traditional peasant recipes: chickling vetch, in fact, is a particularly versatile ingredient, included in many soups, but also mashed or served as a side dish with zampone ("pig's trotter"). Chickling vetch is also used to make the prized flour used to prepare high-quality maltagliati and pappardelle.
In this three-day fun and convivial atmosphere, stands, taste workshops, children's areas, tasting and producers' areas and areas especially dedicated to "street food" are set up throughout the town. All this is accompanied by musical performances by local artists, for an event with a low environmental impact that enlivens the Frigento's summer and welcomes many visitors, eager to get to know the culinary delicacies linked to chickling vetch.
