NonSolOlio (Not Just Oil) is a food and wine and cultural event that takes place in Castel Baronia in October.
The event involves programming the activities and various events at two different times, linked to two different moments in the social life of the community: one in which the harvesting phase takes place, and the other in summer when the town is populated by people who choose to spend part of their summer holidays there.
In relation to the first moment, the day dedicated to the "oil feast" is the day that concludes the harvest and sees the production of the new oil. In this context, a reappraisal of the Ravece variety is carried out, thanks to the contribution of experts called in to support producers and those working in the sector. It should be considered that the recognition of the mark obtained by the Irpinia Colline dell'Ufita PDO product - mainly deriving from the Ravece variety - is the result of careful and scrupulous processing, which requires special conditions, such as harvesting at the right time of ripeness of the fruit and pressing within the subsequent twenty-four hours. During the second phase of this event, on the other hand, which consists of a traditional "festival" dedicated to extra virgin olive oil, visitors have the opportunity to taste the product itself, but also various typical dishes, as the name of the event suggests.
NonSolOlio is an important event not only for tasting but also for learning about it. It allows participants to discover the stages leading to the production and tasting of one of Irpinia's excellent food and wine products.
