The Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo (Saint Michael the Archangel) is the main place of worship for the inhabitants of Sturno.

The ancient Abbey, whose original building dates back to the end of the 16th century, was elevated to the status of a Curated Badial Church in 1807. In the early decades of the 20th century, the Archconfraternity of the Rosary was founded next to it, at the will of Baron Angelo Marino Grella, and the canonical house at the behest of the Holy See in 1933. Destroyed by the 1980 earthquake, it was reopened for worship on 7 May 1994, following the arrival of the restored statue of the Archangel.

The large nave of the present building still contains the artistic main altar, which has been rebuilt several times and is crowned by a wooden effigy of the Archangel, of the Roman school, made in 1654. The Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo contains a rich set of wooden statues and paintings of the Neapolitan school, which add to its value and beauty.

The Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo (Saint Michael the Archangel) is still today, despite its contemporary appearance, a place of worship strongly linked to local traditions: it attracts and gathers an entire community on the occasion of the main religious festivities.
