The Church of the SS. Immacolata Concezione (Immaculate Conception) of Cairano stands in Via Silvano, just a short walk from the Church of San Leone Magno, the patron saint of Cairano.
Dating from the 19th century, the Church of the SS. Immacolata Concezione has a pale yellow façade decorated by a stone portal, a wall clock and a cross standing proudly above the building. On the right hand side, to the rear, is the small bell tower on which there is another cross, smaller than the first.
Inside, the visitor’s eye is mainly drawn to the altar, skilfully made from different shades of marble, and to the 18th-century painting above. The interior has a neat, orderly and gracious aspect that gives the impression of a well-looked after church.
One of the more recent churches in this Irpinian village, the Church of the SS. Immacolata Concezione has a captivating simplicity and grace.
