Cataldo Palace is one of the historical buildings in the centre of the old town of Vallata. The building, from its height of 870 metres above sea level, offers a wonderful all-round view. To the east, the Calaggio valley, the municipalities of Anzano di Puglia and S. Agata di Puglia and the distant Mount Vulture; to the south, the Formicoso, the municipalities of Andretta and Guardia dei Lombardi; to the west, the wooded Mount S. Stefano of nearby Trevico. The building is located between Via Chianchione or Chiancone (as reported in some manuscripts), the south moat (the steep ramp that from Piazza Tiglio, with a marked difference in height, ends in Via Mastroprospero), and the east moat, the current carriageway that joins Via Chianchione in Piazzetta di S. Rocco
