The Church of the Madonna della Neve (Our Lady of the Snow) in Lapio is located in Via Roma, next to the Church of Santa Caterina and not far from Filangieri Palace.
According to the inscription on the entrance portal, the date of construction of the religious building is 1598, while the year of its reconstruction is 1903; official documents show that 3,460 red bricks were used for its reconstruction.
The façade of this church has its own particular beauty, due to the effect of colours and plastic masses created by the use of bricks and marble and a local stone base in tones of grey. The portal is embellished with a chestnut wood carved door. Inside the Church of the Madonna della Neve , there are sacred vestments made of pure gold, perhaps a gift from the Filangieri family: according to some sources, the sacred place served as the family's chapel. This place of worship is further embellished by a large number of paintings from the second half of the 18th century by Francesco Capobianco.
A small sacred jewel set in the heart of the Lapian historic centre, the Church of the Madonna della Neve contributes, together with the nearby Mother Church, to embellish the artistic-religious heritage of the Irpinian town.
