The Feast of the "Mattinella" is a traditional event that the community of Vallata shares with the community of Andretta where, on the last Saturday in May, the feast in honour of Our Lady Morning Star takes place.
During the Feast of the "Mattinella", believers, from the youngest to the oldest, walk a distance of about 15 km to reach the Sanctuary of the Stella Mattutina in the Municipality of Andretta. In this religious place, a symbolic exchange of sashes takes place between the respective institutions of the two villages, before the statue of the Madonna, whose cult dates back to the second half of the 15th century, carried in procession on a float full of decorations. In the past, the statue was pulled by a team of oxen, while today it is driven by a tractor.
A much-loved event in the local community, the Feast of the "Mattinella" in Vallata is a unique occasion for unity, peace and friendship with the neighbouring population of Andretta.
